PRE-FLUXED SOLDER POWDER - NATIONAL CASH REGISTER …

A solder powder is disclosedprising minute particles of metallic alloy solder coated by a thin layer of rosin soldering flux such that the flux performs a triple function of: (a) insulating the individual alloy solder particles from electrical conductance (b) adhesively holding individual particles of solder in place by virtue of the sticky characteristics of the preferred fluxes used to …

the leads of the part are pre-tinned, if you hold the part in place and press a pin down onto a fluxed pad with the tip of the iron it will stick to the pad. Do this to with pins in opposite corners and the part is now held in place and won't move. To be extra secure you could add a tiny bit of solder to the pad before tacking the part down.

Pre-Soldering technical guide FluX: Use Brown Fluoride Flux for all alloys. A fluoride based flux does an excellent job of preventing the growth of oxides which inhibit solder flow. Solder Selection: Use the solder rmended on the technical guide or package. The solder’s liquidus temperature must be lower than the alloy’s solidus temperature.

Desoldering braid or “wick” is a pre-fluxed copper braid that is used to remove solder, which allowsponents to be replaced and excess solder (e.g. bridging) to be removed. The soldering iron is applied to the wick as it sits on the solder joint, and when both are brought up to the solder's melting point, the flux is activated and, through capillary action from the braided …

Using solid solder wire without a flux core - Page 1

Nov 22, 2016 · Re: Using solid solder wire without a flux core. I use flux cored solder and never pre-flux the pins and pads because they're already pre-tinned or gold plated which wets very easily. Another possibility is your iron is too hot, causing the flux to boil off too quickly, which would explain why you need to put flux on the pads.
